Announcement on the Forthcoming 4th Training Session of China-AALCO Exchange and Research Program on International Law

The 4th Training Session of China-AALCO Exchange and Research Program on International Law (CAERP) will be held in Beijing and Hong Kong from September 3 to 21 this year. This training session will focus on the latest development in the theory and practice of international law. Distinguished international law scholars and practitioners from around the world will guide the session through various international law topics, including, among others, international trade and investment, global governance. Apart from international law courses, visits to relevant governmental bodies and private companies of China will be arranged. Following the successful experience and positive feedback from the participants of the previous session, this session will also include a segment in Hong Kong, where the Hong Kong-based Asian Association of International Law (AAIL) will be the host. The tentative schedule of the training session will be published in due course.


Each Member State of Asian-African Legal Consultative Organization is invited to nominate one participant to attend this Session. The Government of China will cover all training costs, including flight tickets, accommodation, meals and airport transportation for all the participants except for the developed economies(Japan, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Cyprus) . For those participants from the developed economies, the Government of China will cover all costs other than flight tickets. All participants are recommended to purchase health insurance before attending the training session. Applicants are requested to complete the attached Application Form (also available on this link) and submit it by 10 July 2018 to the Chinese Embassies in the applicants' home countries.


CAERP was announced in April 2015 by the Government of China during the 54th AALCO Annual Session in Beijing. This program is fully funded by the Government of China and open to all member States of AALCO. The aim of the program is to support the further progress of AALCO and better fulfillment of the Organization's objectives and missions in the new era. This program intends to promote the exchange and dialogue, share good practices, experience and knowledge, enhance capacity-building in the field of international law among AALCO member States and to support the work and activities of AALCO, through, inter alia, organizing or funding seminars and training sessions for legal officers and practitioners from member States, facilitating research on major international law issues of common interest, and providing support to relevant working groups and expert meetings established by AALCO. Three training sessions have been successfully organized under the CAERP, offering training and exchange opportunities for more than 100 participants from some 40 Asian and African states.
